At the beginning of 2023 I was tasked by podcaster Clare Savory to create some visuals for her new podcast series ‘Longdendale Tales’.
A 28 part podcast series and digital interactive map exploring the often forgotten stories of the Longdendale Reservoirs – past and present.
A “walking podcast” where Clare and guests (artists, historians, musicians, environmental experts) stroll along the five reservoirs and their neighbouring River Etherow. Visiting Crowden, Woodhead, Tintwistle, Hadfield and many more places along the Longdendale Trail, Transpennine Route and Pennine Way.
You can explore the area via an interactive map here: https://longdendaletales.humap.site/map
And my contributions can be viewed alongside the podcasts here: https://www.youtube.com/@longdendaletales/videos
As an avid walker anyway this project was a great excuse to explore the Longdendale area some more to capture all the footage for the edits, though you’ll see that the weather at the beginning of 2023 in Glossopdale was quite something!
This pilot project was supported by Glossop Creates as a pairings project with the Peak District National Park.
